PUBG Squad Battle

Land, loot and survive... Since 2017, Fluid have served up stunning campaigns for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Krafton’s infamous Battle Royale which pits 100 players against each other in a fight to the death in an ever-shrinking, ever hostile battleground. As part of their EMEA Content Creator program, the Krafton team collaborated with Fluid to deliver Squad Battle: a high octane, adrenaline-fuelled event which saw two of PUBG’s biggest creators, Shroud and DanucD, form squads and rally their fanbases to battle it out live on Twitch.

Community engagement is PUBG’s lifeblood, and delivering innovative creative solutions is ours. Krafton called in our digital team to create PUBG Squad Battles, a bold and energetic streamer event. Fluid created a strong visual identity and promotional assets, then collaborating with Clutch Group, delivered the event logistics including the broadcast and live scoreboard mechanic. Our objective: to ensure viewers watch the live broadcast, stay engaged throughout the stream, and keep up to speed with the event as things heat up on the night.

Campaign Branding

The first task was to establish the name and visual identity for the event. We wanted something that showed the competitive team vs team format. Our name suggestion 'Squad Battle' was designed to be enjoyably competitive, and our logo design concept offered an extension of the PUBG core visual identity.

The Live Broadcast Event

Our bold promotional assets enticed viewers to set the date, with their favourite creators issuing a call to arms in support. Once tuned in, we drove engagement via our live Twitch broadcast with animated overlays, and built a live scoreboard overlay to keep fans up to speed as the action heated up. Our scoreboard tracked and awarded team points for individual eliminations, squad eliminations, and chicken dinners (game wins); then deducted points for hitting own squad members as friendly fire was on! Viewers also had the chance to win big through on-air giveaways, including 50 redeem codes loaded with 6,000 G-Coin.

Creating a Twitch event needs a large amount of assets generating to fit different live environments. From single, split and group screen arrangements to winner announcements and interview screens.

Fluids Scoreboard App

Fluid developed the scoreboard app, which controlled the scores during the live event. Our dashboard allowed admins to add events, add teams, and add score categories and parameters. The system creates a dynamic Twitch overlay for the scoreboard that can be added to OBS (or any streaming tool) for the broadcast.
