Cronos: The New Dawn Key Art
Survival Horror fans have much to celebrate this Halloween as Bloober announce their upcoming nightmare fodder, Cronos: The New Dawn. The team’s first home grown horror title has a stunning pedigree - following in the wake of critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2, Observer, Layers of Fear, Blair Witch and a host of other adrenaline fuelled titles.
Set in dual timelines, with the grim brutalism of 1980s Poland juxtaposed with a post-apocalyptic future via retro futuristic technology and the mysterious twists of time travel, Cronos’ pulse pounding third-person horror throws gamers into a deadly struggle against grotesquely morphing foes, in a desperate bid to survive the nightmare of the past, and save what remains of the future.
Bloober tasked Fluid’s Brand team with the creation of a seminal piece of key art to represent the game in chillingly distinctive form. Leaving audiences in no doubt as to the horror lying at the title’s heart, our creative solution should reflect the game’s AAA credentials, hinting at themes of retro-futurist technology, time travel and psychological horror, with a heavy dystopian feel and a harsh, desolate Eastern European aesthetic.
Bold, dark and apocalyptic, our creative solution codifies the game’s visual branding with a starkly terrifying two-tone colour palette. Our central Traveler stands mute and alone as destruction occurs in a wasteland devoid of humanity - hinting at an unknown foe, and an apocalyptic storyline. Gritty and grainy, multiple shades of grey provide a low-fi aesthetic reminiscent of a 1980s communist poverty and desolation, with deeply brooding red skies evoking the psychological nightmare of survival horror.
